At Sundays at Margaret's we want you to love cooking from our books. This policy explains when you can get a refund, a replacement or a fix, and how to ask for one. It covers our digital cookbooks and, where we offer them, our printed hardcover editions. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
The short version
- Digital cookbooks (PDF) are delivered instantly, so we do not offer change-of-mind refunds once your download link has been sent.
- Printed books can be returned within 30 days of delivery.
- If something is wrong (a file won't open, a book arrives damaged, it is not as described, it never arrived, or you were charged twice), we will fix it, replace it or refund you.
- Your statutory consumer rights always apply (see Section 21).
Part A — Digital cookbooks
1. Why change-of-mind refunds are not available
Our digital cookbooks are files that are delivered to you within minutes and can be kept permanently. Once a file has been delivered, it cannot be returned. For that reason, we cannot offer refunds on digital cookbooks if you simply change your mind after delivery.
Our product pages state clearly whether you are buying a digital PDF edition or a printed edition. On digital products, images showing a book in hardcover or printed form are illustrations of the cover, not a physical product.
2. Your right to cancel and immediate delivery
In some places, such as the United Kingdom and the European Union, consumers normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. That right ends once delivery has started, if you have expressly requested immediate delivery and acknowledged that you lose your right to cancel.
At checkout, you request immediate delivery of your digital cookbook and acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once delivery begins. We confirm this in your order confirmation email.
Not delivered yet? If your digital order has not been delivered (for example because a payment is still being verified), you can cancel it free of charge by emailing us. We will refund you in full.
3. When you are entitled to a fix, replacement or refund
|
Situation |
What we do |
|---|---|
|
The file is faulty, damaged, incomplete or will not open |
We send a working file straight away. If we cannot fix the problem within a reasonable time, you get a full refund. |
|
The book is materially different from its description (for example the wrong title, or far fewer recipes than advertised) |
We send the correct book, or you can choose a full refund. |
|
Your book was never delivered and we cannot deliver it |
Full refund. |
|
You accidentally bought the same digital book twice |
We refund the duplicate purchase, if you tell us within 30 days. |
|
A payment was made without your permission |
Contact us and your bank. We will help and refund the order where it was not authorized. |
|
You bought the wrong digital title by mistake |
We swap it once for another title of the same price (you pay any difference for a more expensive title), if you tell us within 14 days. |
These are not faults: changing your mind, not liking a recipe, a dish turning out differently from the photo, finding a lower price elsewhere, or not having a device that opens PDF files. If you have trouble opening your book, email us and we will gladly help you step by step.
4. Price reductions for minor problems
If a problem is minor (for example a small error in a few recipes) and we cannot correct it, we may offer a partial refund that fairly reflects the problem. Where the law gives you the choice between a remedy and a refund, the choice is yours.
Part B — Printed books
5. 30-day returns
You can return a printed book for any reason within 30 days of the day it is delivered to you. This includes, and is longer than, the 14-day cancellation period that applies in some places, such as the United Kingdom and the European Union.
To receive a full refund, the book should be unused and in the condition you received it: free of markings, stains, food splashes or other damage that happened after delivery. You are welcome to look through it the way you would in a bookshop. If a returned book shows use beyond that, we may reduce the refund to reflect the loss in value, as the law allows.
6. How to return a printed book
- Contact us first at margaret@sundaysatmargarets.com with your order number and which book you want to return. Please do not send anything back before you hear from us.
- We reply, usually within 1–2 business days, with the correct return address. Our books are printed to order at different printing facilities, so the return address can differ per order.
- Send the book back within 14 days after telling us, well packed and ideally with a tracked shipping service. Keep your proof of postage until your refund is complete.
7. Shipping costs
- Change of mind: you pay the cost of sending the book back. We do not charge restocking fees.
- Original shipping: the shipping cost you paid for your order is not refunded. If you live in the UK or the EU and you return every book in your order within the cancellation period, we refund the standard shipping cost, as required by law.
- Damaged, faulty or wrong book: you pay nothing, and you do not need to send the book back (see Sections 9 and 10).
8. When you receive your refund
We refund you within 14 days after we receive the returned book, or within 14 days after you send us proof that you have sent it back, whichever is earlier.
9. Damaged, faulty or misprinted books
If your book arrives damaged, or has a printing or binding fault (for example missing, blank or loose pages), email us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the problem. We will send you a replacement or a full refund, whichever you prefer, at no cost to you. You do not need to return the damaged copy. If you notice a fault later, please still contact us: your statutory rights may give you more time.
Small differences in color, paper or binding compared with photos on our website are normal for printed books and are not a fault.
10. Wrong book received
If you receive a different book from the one you ordered, email us with your order number and a photo of what arrived. We will send the correct book or refund you in full, at no cost to you.
11. Lost parcels
If your printed book is lost on its way to you, we will send a replacement or refund you in full. See our Shipping & Delivery Policy for details.
12. Cancelling a printed order
Printed books are made to order and production can start shortly after you order. If you want to cancel, email us as soon as possible. If production has not started, we cancel and refund you in full. If your book has already been printed or shipped, you can still return it within 30 days of delivery under Section 5.
13. Exchanges
We do not offer direct exchanges of printed books. If you would like a different book, return the original under Section 5 and place a new order. Damaged, faulty or wrong books are replaced for you directly.
Part C — All orders
14. Orders with both digital and printed items
Each part of a mixed order follows its own rules: the digital part follows Part A and the printed part follows Part B. If you return the printed part, we refund the printed part of your order.
15. How to ask for help or a refund
- Email us at margaret@sundaysatmargarets.com.
- Include your order number, the email address you used at checkout, and a short description of the problem. A screenshot or photo helps us solve it faster.
- We reply personally, usually within 1–2 business days, and tell you what happens next.
Please contact us as soon as you notice a problem. This helps us solve it quickly. It does not shorten any longer period you have under the law.
16. How refunds are paid
- Refunds go back to the original payment method you used, in the same currency you were charged in.
- Unless stated otherwise above, we process approved refunds without undue delay, and in any case within 14 days.
- Your bank or card issuer may then take 5–10 business days to show the refund on your statement. Any difference caused by exchange rates or bank fees is set by your bank, not by us.
17. After a refund of a digital book
When we refund a digital book in full, your license to use that book ends. Please delete any copies, and note that access to its web edition may be switched off. This does not apply to a partial refund or price reduction.
18. Bundles and collections
If you bought books as a bundle or collection and one book has a problem, we fix or replace that book. If a refund is due for one book only, we refund its share of the price you paid for the bundle.
19. Free bonuses
Free items, such as bonus web editions or free gifts with an order, have no cash value and cannot be refunded on their own.
20. Payment disputes and chargebacks
Please contact us before contacting your bank. We can usually solve a problem within one or two business days, while a bank dispute can take weeks. If a dispute or chargeback is opened, we will respond through the payment provider and share relevant order, delivery and tracking information. While a dispute is open, we cannot issue a separate refund for the same order, to prevent you from being refunded twice and charged back later. If we cancel your order ourselves, for example because of a pricing error or a suspected fraudulent payment, we refund the full amount to your original payment method and let you know by email.
21. Your statutory rights
This policy is in addition to your rights under consumer law. It does not remove or limit them.
- United Kingdom: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content and goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Faulty goods can be rejected for a full refund within 30 days. Otherwise you are entitled to a repair or replacement, or a price reduction or refund if that is not possible.
- Australia: our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
- New Zealand: nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.
- Canada and the United States: nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province, territory or state.
European Union: you have the rights given by EU consumer law, including a legal guarantee that digital content and printed books conform to the contract (at least two years for printed books).
All other countries: nothing in this policy limits mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
22. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect when you placed your order applies to that order.
